Arthur Beaumont (1890-1978)

Hiro Fine Art is interested in purchasing artworks by Arthur Beaumont.

Arthur Beaumont was born in Norwich, England and emigrated to the United States in 1909. He lived in San Francisco, attending the San Francisco Institute of Art and later studied at L.A. School of Art and the Chouinard School. He became an officer in the Navy in 1932 and painted a portrait of the Vice Admiral William Leahy. The portrait was so well received by Vice Admiral Leahy that he commissioned Beaumont to paint the US Fleet in the Navy. This led Beaumont to become the official Navy war artist for forty years where he painted powerful naval battle scenes from World War II through the Vietnam War. Beaumont lived mostly in Los Angeles before moving to Laguna Hills for the last ten years of his life.
