Olaf Seltzer (1877-1957)

Hiro Fine Art is interested in purchasing artworks by Olaf Seltzer.

Olaf Seltzer was born in Copenhagen where he began to study art at the young age of twelve. After the death of his father, he and his mother moved to Great Falls, Montana in 1897. Seltzer was 19 years old at the time and began working as a cowboy and on the railroad, often sketching the landscape in his spare time. After meeting Charles Russell, a Wild West painter, he began painting full time and moved to New York to paint with Russell. Though similar in style to Russell’s work, Seltzer painted more mythically and imaginatively, also including more wildlife in his work.
