Arthur Allie (1872-1953)

Arthur Allie was born in DePere, Wisconsin in 1872 to David Allie and Adaline Bieutin. He studied in New York with the artist Robert Henri of “The Eight” as well as some of the well known “Ashcan school” of painters. He returned to the midwest and lived in St. Paul, Minnesota for the rest of his life. He married Marjorie Thompson and created a number of paintings for the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s and 1940s. He created beautiful Impressionist paintings of St. Paul and the surrounding landscapes which show his great artistic talents. Arthur Allie passed away in St. Paul in 1953.
